Day Four.
Documentation Criteria
Produce a blog entry of 250-500 words that addresses the following questions:
What? Describe the types of online media practices you engaged with and produced today. This many include (what you listened to, watched and created online). Write this description as if you are explaining to someone step by step what you did. Explain what you did like for instance if you added a video to YouTube. What was the content of the video? This part sets up the context for the next two questions.
How? This part focuses on the authoring, publishing and distributing part of your activity. For instance, if you are adding a photo to Instagram – What did you take the photo with (what type of camera)?, How did you author the content then publish it to that service? How did you distribute the content you added? Did you link it to other social media services like Facebook, or a blog, for example.
Why? This part concentrates on the question ‘What do I do with online media?’ For example, why did you post a photo to Facebook? Was it because you wanted to show family and friends what you were doing that day at that particular time? Another example – Why did you watch a particular video on YouTube? Was it for entertainment purposes or to learn something?

Focus on: Youtube
What? I use Youtube for most things nowdays; tutorials (for example, Premier Pro), fashion inspiration, dance videos, travel videos and music videos. Today, I watched a couple of food videos and one of my favourite dance channels. I have linked them down below. All Youtube Videos covered under the creative commons license.
David Seymour “Buzzfeed Test #66”
TheMilkClub “Huge Catch Up”
ToThe9s “Fashion Haul/Faves/Pics etc.”
How? I not only watch Youtube Videos for my own enjoyment (ie: fashion videos), I also enjoy learning things from Youtube as well. When I had to make my media one project on Premiere Pro, I researched how to do basic things such as transitions, lowering the audio on a certain clip and overall aesthetic of the video. I also look at educational things on Youtube, to explain topics for university and to link things to my blog that I find educational and worthwhile.
Why? I not only find Youtube to be one of the more engaging and ‘user-friendly’ options for video streaming, but I find the content to be particularly engaging and suits what I want to watch. The wide variety of personalities, educational seminars and videos that suit my tastes is why I spend so much time on Youtube. I also use this as my method of choice for uploading my projects onto my blog as I find it has less lag and the quality is higher than Vimeo, another streaming service.
