That went better than expected….
So the Premier League season is over. My team, Everton finished 5th… and fail to qualify for the Champions League. But I’m not upset at all. Let’s take it a step back.
Everton going into this season had just gotten a new manager. The old manager, David Moyes had been there for 10 years. 10 years of mediocrity and no silver to show for it. A few finals and a Champions League run but nothing. I personally was a bit nervy when he left.
In comes Roberto Martinez. Instantly, watching his press conferences and interviews seems like a really well cultured, high spirits kind of guy. This season will be transitional for us as we rebuild. Boom, first game of the season we beat David Moyes’ Manchester United. We go on a 4 game streak and remain lossless for the first 10 games of the season. Holy cow!!
We finished 5th and are now in the Europa League, the step down from the Champions League but we finished above Tottenham and United. Something we haven’t been able to do for a loooooooong time, more than 10 years for sure. Punters all had Everton in around 15th – 16th. What a season it’s been. Looking forward to the future supporting these guys who are definitely on the rise.
