Poor and Hungry, A Guide For Uni Students: Chapter 1
Uni students all share two things in common: we’re poor and we’re hungry. It’s a dangerous combination that defines our very being. The daily battle between our rumbling stomach and our empty wallet is a tough one, but it can be beaten. How, you ask? Introducing Poor and Hungry: A Guide For Uni Students.
Designed for uni students by a uni student, Poor and Hungry is a chaptered bible to the best and cheapest places to eat in the CBD. No more paying $16 for poached eggs or $9 for a croissant – we’re talking yummies for our tummies that’ll leave us with enough coinage for petrol, rent and much-needed weekend beverages.
Chapter 1: Don Don
Kicking things off with one of the classics, Don Dons is an essential go-to when you’re down to your last few gold ones. $6.90 can get you a full-blown curry like this one here complete with chicken, rice, pickled capsicum, carrot and broccoli. I’m no health expert, but that’s got to be at least 9x more nutritious than a standard packet of Mi Goreng. This place is also perfect for when you’re running a bit late to that dreaded lecture – you literally get your food as soon as you hand over the cash. Be warned, though, it can get a little busy around lunchtime.
