I, like so many others just like me, walk past, trying to look elsewhere. No one wanted to address it, but it was clear that everyone noticed it.
Every day in this city you find yourself walking past people with nothing. You don’t think about it, the nature of their lives; the hunger, the cold, the constant state of desperation.
There were two people, a man and a woman, still asleep in the cold fog that overcast this morning, their legs outstretched covering half of the footpath just to the side of the 7/11. Next to them was a trolley, covered in a thick blanket. I found this a little odd on second glance, as these two people had practically nothing to cover themselves with, yet used the heavy blanket for the trolley. Clearly they wanted to protect what little they had enough to sacrifice a night of warmth. The contents of the trolley was everything they had in life, other than each other.
