Me, Myself and I

I can’t help but feel a little frustrated at how little progress was made this week.

I organised two meetings for this week, both of which neither member showed up to, cancelling on me at the last minute. These meetings were organised to discuss the prototype for the site, and further discussions about what content should be on it. I work better with someone to bounce ideas off, so having concerns about content lying around in my head has done nothing to help me at this stage in the project, when we need start producing as soon as possible.

I then came into class today, with uncompleted web storyboard templates for a prototype in hand. All that was left to do was literally draw what the content would look like, but I had waited to discuss this with my group and was now suffering for it. I felt foolish for waiting so long in hopes of my members communicating with me and giving me some form of direction, something which I felt like I needed before I started making decisions on my own.

A long discussion with Rachel over the state of things as eased my mind, and given me some clarity into how to proceed.

I gave a very rough presentation of the prototype, which was something in itself, as I’m often terrible at articulating my thoughts in a verbal manner in a public forum. I left class early to go home and complete the prototype on my own, and have just sent out emails to Ariff and Daniel outlining what is required of them in terms of content for the first draft next week, keeping in mind that there is a possibility that I may not receive this content.

I will be writing brief summaries and outlining the ideas we have built on using our research for each section, and then anything I get sent in will just be something which makes the draft feel a little more complete and of a higher quality.

I was raised as a lover of films, becoming enamoured with worlds presented on the silver screen in 'Star Wars' and 'Raiders of the Lost Ark' before I had even entered Kindergarten. This is what first got me interested in pursuing media studies, but I hope to expand my knowledge beyond film through what RMIT can teach me.
