Today I had the pleasure to sit next Gabrielle McLeod and we talked about various different topics in relation to the readings on hypertext and these are some of the ideas we conversed on
- The importance of writing and it’s function as technology in itself, in its ability maintain order in all aspects of life especially in consideration of the writing of laws.
- We also discussed how through the introduction of written text we have transgressed into a society that is far less communal, and how it would be desirable to still have these qualities abundant today. Yet through the invention of hypertext this almost being achieved as we share links to things we have viewed that interest us creating an interconnected society.
- It was also quite intriguing to consider the way in which pages with hyperlinks are consumed in that they are not necessarily sequential but run more in parallel with each other, creating a more lateral form of processing information.
This post is still in a draft phase I’ll be developing the ideas later so check back soon 🙂
