Film TV 2 Reviews

Sneakerhead Collective

I have to start off by saying that I absolutely loved this film. I think the way the film was edited together in such a sleek manner, especially with the music, was done extremely well and perfectly matched the subject matter of the high end sneakers. Another thing I really enjoyed about the film was the array of participants used, as I really felt that each character brought a unique opinion or insight into the topic creating a multifaceted documentary which helped build this world of sneakers. I also thought that the amount of time given to each participant was really well executed as it seemed quite well balanced. Overall, this was a really excellent film.

Theanna:

Once again, another brilliant documentary which was full of so much emotion and was so heartfelt. I never would have imagined that a 5 minute documentary would be able to build up so much tenderness within such a short time, that I would be in tears by the end. Theanna was such a beautiful subject and really made the whole documentary with her brilliantly hilarious stories and the clear love she had for her husband. It was also a really good idea to include Tiana in the documentary as it really heightened how personal the film was as well as serving as a really good counterpart for Theanna to bounce off of.

Chinese Whispers:

Chinese Whispers was by far the most sophisticatedly made film of the night by far. The editing of the film was absolutely stunning in the way it interweaved the three characters and their adjacent stories. However, the thing I admired most about this film was the way it managed to change in tone so vastly between each segment showing off each participant’s unique personality and craft yet still remain a cohesive film. While all these factors really enhanced the film, ultimately the documentaries success boiled down to the brilliant concept of the film. All I can say is that after watching last night’s version of ‘Chinese Whispers’, I have been left in anticipation for the full version in January.
