Um guys, where art thou?

Today was very very very frustrating. What was meant to be the second group meeting ended up in me being by myself trying to sort things out.

Ariff and Dylan couldn’t make the class due to illnesses. We were given a new task to come up with an “annotated bibliography” of at least 4 sources per person, annotated with summaries and suggestions about specific sources. I wish the boys were here so that we’d be able to get the ball rolling academically.

I had to send an email to the others to let them know about this new information that we’d been given in class. The email was as follows:

“Hey guys,

From today’s class so far I realized there’s A LOT more work to be done together than I previously thought. Basically Rachel explained that the way this assessment works is that it is split up into four parts, 3 which we are assessed on as a group and 1 individually. These are.

  1. “The Artifact” (the mode of our presentation eg video, essay etc.; informed by our research)
  2. Production dossier (submission requirements section on the project brief sheet)
  3. Declaration form (the standard thing we submit with everything)

[GROUP ASSESSED] 40%

  1. Blog reflections

[INDIVIDUALLY ASSESSED] – 20%

Adding to that, we’ve got a deadline for next week’s class which is the annotated bibliography. I’ve scanned the sheet and put it in the attachments (pages are wrongly ordered but whatever). All the details are there but basically I think we should find sources each relating to the relationship between media and audience and use them. They don’t have to be our final sources, just our initial research.

Have a good weekend guys.”

I am slightly concerned as I feel that our research might be a bit disjointed as we haven’t really been able to discuss what exactly it is we’re researching or what type of artifact we’re working towards. Hopefully they bring something to the table next week and we can speed things up from there.
