Nausea
I finished Nausea by Jean-Paul Sartre.
Its an incredible piece of work. I think I understand Existentialism a little more.
Here’s a quote:
“I have crossed the seas, I have left cities behind me,
and I have followed the source of rivers towards their
source or plunged into forests, always making for other
cities. I have had women, I have fought with men ; and
I could never turn back any more than a record can spin
in reverse. And all that was leading me where ?
To this very moment…”
I think it highlights the world’s indifference to humanity: we exist to be remembered, and we’re remembered by how we choose to exist.
It’s a liberating thought. Sartre finds meaning…
He wanted to be remembered by Nausea. I’ll sure as hell remember him for Nausea
