Boogie
The unlecture..
There was that dancing metaphor Adrian suggested:
‘No-one knows where it leads and no-one knows the steps’
I guess it kind of highlights how no one can really be sure of where they are going with these blogs. And maybe with University itself, and all things ahead. I certainly have this overwhelming urge to drop out and do my own thing at home. But I guess the security that an institution sometimes provides is more satisfying than the precarious lifestyle that is led at home.
And I feel like we all think we need a degree to get by; maybe we don’t. Maybe we can dance by ourselves just fine.
There was the idea Adrian suggested of University being a two-way transaction. And that whole notion of reciprocal obligation which he pinpointed:
I guess it’s all about having faith in the system and then taking initiative for yourself and using the resources around you. It was easier in high school; because that faith was conditioned over five years and by the end of it there was that subconscious trust and comfort. I feel like in University there is a different aura. I was institutionalised by my high school for sure… I loved it by the end.
