Question 8
From my experience with the Lenny exercise I gained a better understanding of how to utilise and control the boom and the relative sound. As I am the sound for our upcoming productions, gaining this small piece of experience with the equipment helps me to understand what is ahead of me so i can be the best for my group. We filmed our Lenny across the road from a construction site and at first I thought this would be an issue for my limited sound recording abilities but using the boom in the right places helped me to create the best sound scape for the film.
From the Lenny my team and I learnt that in filming time passes very quickly and you need to utilise the time you have effectively. The Lenny helped us to discover this fact as we found our selves needing to head back to class in what seemed liked minutes. For the future this will assist us in understanding our boundaries and help us to set reasonable time margins and reasonable expectations from our actors and our directing.
Overall I think the Lenny was a good first exercise to help us get into the motions of filming and what it’s truly like to be on a functioning set.
