PROJECT BRIEF 2

Having been away for the passed two Fridays I didn’t have any footage from class to edit or have a play with in premier but I’ve ‘kidnapped’ some footage from my class mates. With the first half of this footage my aim was to add fluidity to the dance movements. I aimed to put the movement of both subjects into one streamline dance/walk. Doing this allowed me to reflect on the premiere shortcuts and techniques we learnt in class last week and I got to experiment with using different sequences and cutting, cropping and rearranging certain parts of different clips together. The second half of the clip I aimed to tell a story of two people connected by dance. Although the dance is Gangnam Style they seem pretty happy to be dancing it and I thought it would set a scene and mood to crop and rearrange them doing different parts of the dance together.

From taking the time to edit these clips together I’ve learnt that premiere is a program that takes time and effort to get to know the ropes well enough to have full confidence in getting the work done, the way you want it. This week I’ve also learnt that although I haven’t been in class to complete the exercises I need to take it upon myself to have the initiative to go out and experiment on my own. The only way I’m going to learn what my technique is, how well I can operate the equipment and my style of editing might be is to go out and do it myself with no class constraints.
