Week 2; Unlecture

Week 2’s Unlecture was my first introduction to the process of the ‘symposium’s that are being said to replace our typical lecture formats for Networked Media. I’m still unsure of how I feel about the whole ‘student input needed’ within the lecture setting. But then again, I think this is because I’ve grown accustomed to being able to create my own private sphere within a lecture, usually through the use of my internet browser. Maybe the forced nature of the open format will actually get me further involved in my learning. I personally think with something like a lecture, that’s created as a space for students to sit and learn, it is going to take time to transform itself into a space for sharing. Mostly because I’m one of those people that generally likes to sit back and watch the others make the mistakes in a group format before I make somewhat of an educated guess, and adapting to the change of everyone sharing is something that might take me a bit of time. But hey, the world never stops moving, so why should I? As my first lecture attended for the subject, I found the subject of this week to be somewhat rudimentary to what I would classify as general knowledge. I’m not saying it lacked intelligence, not at all, the things discussed further detailed what I would’ve already been considering myself. I found the point about blogging being symbolic and fundamental to modern society to be relatively true. I think it’s more the future that we can say will be programmed to be a world of blogging, because at the moment, yes there are blogs everywhere and about everything, but they don’t take the forefront for higher ranking, world or national news and for someone like me who, i’m not particularly and ‘news reader’ as such, I still don’t invest my time in curating or reading blogs at all. But that being said after this experience I might find that I enjoy myself and get right into the social media way of the future!
