Project Brief 3 Brainstorming Session

The description of the task for Project Brief 3 is as follows:

This project brief asks you to create and produce a two minute individual media portrait of someone you
know. That someone can be a family member, friend, partner or workmate. It has to be a real person.

Submission Requirements
-2 minutes of edited media (in one of these formats – .mov, .mp4, .avi, .wmv), which includes any
combination of photographic stills, video, sound and text
-It must include closing credits correctly attributing found footage materials used
-Assessment declaration
-Written reflection of up to 350 words (this should be in sentences/paragraph – not dot points). This
reflection should address i) what you consider to be the most successful and problematic aspects of your
submitted work; ii) any key learning discovery you made in terms of the creative possibilities of producing
portraits; iii) and what you learnt in the making of the piece

Current Focus:

I am almost certain I will be doing the task on my friend Matthew, he is someone who is great in front of a camera (theatre background), and has an interesting way of thinking and history. For example, just last year Matt lost around 5 to 10 kilograms in the space of a year, becoming absolutely obsessed with running, and is now hoping to make it to state level distance running.

Firstly I have composed a mind-map of what is interesting about Matt, and what I could focus on. For example, his music, his running and his weight loss and perception of himself.

On the bottom right, I have created a sequence of how I think the project could go.

Here I have considered an idea for a fastened sequence of building a lego wall in front of Matthews face only to tear it down, which would be a different representation of his imaginative personality. I have also generated some storyboards, where I plan to begin the sequence with Matt running.

Overall the project brief is undoubtedly looming and I need to get a move on and finish it soon, but I am happy with my ideas so far.
