Upon exiting RRR, We were advised not to listen to the podcasted episode – even once, until we had “Fresh Ears”.
I, being overly enthused couldn’t help myself as soon as I bound in my apartment door to spring open my laptop and listen in.
However, it became immediately apparent that the advice given, was correct. My view of the show was tainted, incredibly warped and
I quickly slammed shut the computer lid in fear that other humans had actually possibly heard my voice that past afternoon.
The following Monday, as instructed, I braced myself and garnered up the courage to listen to the podcast.
With Fresh ears, I could engage with the content, laugh (and cringe) at the jokes and make constructive criticism without
the risk of throwing my laptop out the window.
upon reflection, I enjoyed the show. I can note the change in my vocal cords and rhythm when I am nervous and the pattern
I relax into when conversation is flowing naturally between presenter and subject. Whilst I do know there are areas
to continue improving, I believe my conversational skills are the main aspect which will assist my radio craft as
it has never been something I struggle with.
Looking forward to the second show, I will aim to work on my comfortability around the microphone and ensure I relax
into the show earlier; rather than a somewhat frazzled and disjointed beginning.
