Reflecting on the course, two things stand out to me. I have been particularly engaged and critical of media as a practice as it has been thoroughly drilled into me within this course, and I still get anxious over the prospect of utilising media equipment and feel fairly incompetent.
The theory aspect of this course has been amazing, I have loved engaging in readings and learning about various theories on various elements of media; from remixing to copyright I feel as though I have gained a breadth of knowledge on the media industry in the first semester of this course.
I do however still feel as though if I were to be given access to the entire equipment library, I would not know how to operate many pieces. In the next semester I do hope to gain access to all this equipment and venture further out into using equipment I never have before; I do acknowledge that this must also start with me. As I have never studied media prior, I often resort to utilising simple equipment I can easily navigate.
