[ SO I WEAR THIS ]
PART I
The final work, ”So I Wear This”, is to express how the fast fashion industry has brought a negative influence on my vision, and also the possible solution for an alternative future, such as the digital clothing becoming a way to reduce the raw materials during manufacturing. This hybrid video (experimental + documentary) attempts to build on reality by projecting clips onto clothing, creating a half-illusory and half-real feeling. I hope that through this video, I can let everyone see the practicality of digital clothes in the future and let everyone understand the climate change brought about by fashion at the same time. Through such contrast, everyone has a current negative cognition and an imagination space for the future.
I learned from this studio that the development of future technology would be the technology of artificial intelligence, and it is inevitable that we are already using this technology every day. Various AI technologies are applied to every field to assist social progress. But with the development of applications, human beings have raised another issue of over-abuse or over-reliance on such technologies. It’s like a cell phone, originally designed to be portable and easy to communicate with. With the emergence of smartphones and social apps, human beings are pushed toward mobile phone addiction. According to a government survey, 30% of people have mobile phone addiction in my country, Taiwan. Similarly, no one can stop the development of AI technology in the future, whether capitalism or the government. Such technology is good for the future, but everything has its points that need to be considered and learn to think independently in order to see the essence of things in the future development of science and technology.
As for the extension of this work, I would like my videos to be presented through small exhibitions for a more immersive playback. Maybe it can be placed props next to my creative process, such as painted green paint in the middle of the t-shirt as a green screen and some inspirations encountered during the creative process and the final realisation process. Through such an environment to stimulate the audience’s ideas, maybe this can find more environmentally conscious inspiration for the future fashion industry.
“Tomorrow is the future”. More precisely, every incoming decision is to help the future find its way. I would say that every idea that contributes to environmental issues in the future is already a help.
PART II
In fact, in this creation, the most difficult part should be how to realise the imagined footage. Maybe my storyboards come out, but many of them involve environmental factors, such as weather conditions, epidemics, or sudden thoughts added to the shoot. My point is actually, “Back to basics is one of technology”. A white T-shirt with a green square in the middle (as a green screen) is used throughout the film. I also tried putting some clips on my green screen to make it look like I wanted it to be. In the process, drones will also be used. In order to ensure that the weather is as clear as possible, some scenes took different days to execute. (Because sometimes it rains later, or the epidemic situation is precarious these days). Secondly, some pictures that appear on the storyboard can’t be realised in the end. Only some clips without copyright or need to purchase the copyright can be used. During the colour grading process, due to the different log files, including the different raw formats of Sony (S-Log II) and DJI (D-Log), there will be a colour cast problem when inserting the lut. After that, it can be adjusted manually.

PART III
The assignment 4 project by Trent and Izzy is coincidentally similar to the matter of the fast fashion industry as mine. More, they focus on psychological effects like the relationship between fast fashion and the negative effects of influencers/celebrities. As this team said, the first point is that these famous people are often accompanied by commercial value and are often used as a way of promoting fast fashion. In order to achieve mainstream awareness, fast fashion has caused a lot of unnecessary pollution in the mass and rapid production process of these clothes. The second point is that the use of social software is mostly by teenagers. These customers often spend a lot of money and are under psychological pressure because of seemingly dream clothes (such as, “Even if I buy these clothes, I still can’t achieve the state I want. ” or those who still want to buy these unnecessary products on the brink of bankruptcy). It also indirectly proves that with the changes of the times, there are more incentives for young people now. Trent and Izzy present several solutions to these problems (which can be dealt with today, in the short/long term, and at the human psychological level). In short to medium term, they believe that developing apps (for example, clothes that can be simulated on you through your phone’s camera, similar to AR technology) will contribute to sustainable development. In theory, this can reduce the number of clothes wasted in the pre-production stage. Or from a long-term perspective. The concept of assisting small environmentally friendly clothing brands (materials are friendly to the earth, etc.) gradually penetrates the mass market. From a psychological point of view, Trent and Izzy believe that people should also take the initiative to strengthen their self-awareness. The source of self-confidence should not only be trying on expensive clothes or beautiful clothes. (At present, Instagram company hides the number of “love buttons” of Internet celebrities in some countries to reduce the blind vanity of these misleading young people.)
The storyline seems to be very interesting and natural, and it is more like a scene of a film with this storyline. The video equipment side looks professional, even lighting equipment. Trent and Lzzy have established work schedules to help them smoothly reach the film production schedule. Overall, they pre-prepared well, with a rich background and perfect references.
