Firstly, there is nothing better than the experience of creating music videos intensively in the past six weeks. Also, I was enjoyed collaborating with teammates to produce something out as I have been interested in working out short videoes or music videoes. Besides, the course provided me with an opportunity to explore more views in Melbourne CBD. With the experiment of a variety of camera setup, the footage seemed to be more amazing.
From the very begin, our team all had generous ideas to want to express in our music video and we were thinking about how to demonstrate the concept of visualising music video with a realistic idea. However, as too many ideas, there was an issue – our progress was just on picking up a song for our music video quite and we were behind to other groups when they have started to shoot videos. But have too many ideas is much better than no ideas, we just need more experience with making a decision.
If there was a weakness needed to improve our music video, that would be: In terms of scenery shot, we failed to collect plenty of materials from various angles and which led us to have only a few materials during editing. In the group, we all were new to edit a video with correct editing progress(In the past experience, I did not have the habit to do the rough cut before officially doing the editing). Meanwhile, we also were first-time to use X7 and failed to set up the film camera in the right focus due to the screen on the camera was too small.
I think we did well in individual positions. Janelle and Brooke attended every activity in the past 6 weeks, even they knew that they were not good at editing but providing a lot of creative ideas positively. Luis was responsible to contact the artist and the dancer. Personally, I think I was a good contributor because I was the only person who was familiar with editing and shooting videoes, I contributed most of the time in the editing room. But I reckon I could do better if I know how to set up x70 appropriately, then the progress could be easier to commit.
In terms of M.O.U, we appreciated that the artist let us use his music. So we don’t face any issues during making the video. Also, the dancer and his father all agreed with it. So that we didn’t worry about the preparation of the music video.
In the final week, it was a wonderful thing to see other groups’ final products. And be personally, all the music videoes were shot professionally.
There were two of four music videoes really caught my attention – Endless Day by Claim and Comfort You by Robert Baxter. Endless Day was the only group shot the whole footage outdoor. By applying the lighting setup from the sunshine, their scenes have the most comfortable lighting. When the team deploys different angles of the scenes and the usage of cut on the beat, it was an effective way to illustrate their storyline. They also highlighted their environment successfully through drone shooting. Overall, its editing makes the music video has a visually attractive to watch.

Another music video was Comfort You by Robert Baxter. Personally, I reckon that the main reason that made it effective was the usage of cut on the beat and the switch of color just on the beat.
I was totally entertained and enjoyed by the interaction between the stimulation of color switching and the voice of the singer. As a result, they have successfully performed the advantage of the song.

In conclusion, from studio screenings and activities, it was so fresh to learning use chroma key and experiment with different lighting in various scenes. Also, I learned the importance of communication with your colleagues and reaching an agreement.
