Week8 Lecture

What I picked up from today is the difference between ‘genre’ and ‘mode’

is that genre is a type of narrative form. A genre film can say how a romantic film goes bt it doesn’t say how it will be filmed.

A ‘mode’ is basically how the film was being shot. For documentaries, there are four. Expository, Reflexive, Interactive and   Observational.

A Kfilm generally can have all kind of genres in.

Intent!

Intent doesn’t survive out in the world. One of the biggest example I’ve got in mind after Adrian mentioned this was My Little Pony. It was intended to attract little girls but instead it got the attention of teenage boys and call themselves ‘Bronies’. Just to be clear, I don’t watch that show. I’ve heard a lot about it. I did watched one episode and honestly I find it was supposedly to have little girls’ attention. Did something went wrong?

RMIT building 100 can be another example. Beautiful architecture, beautiful design, but did not go the way of having it as the next SAB, building 80.

Intention vs Impact
