Question 3
A clip of a man singing and drinking from Drinking for England was very entertaining to watch. However, to be honest, I don’t fully understand the whole thing but it was fun to watch a man drinking and bobbing his head while singing- in a good way. From what I see, the character is probably a frequent drinker. In a sense of documentary, it is kind of interesting to see the filmmakers insert some music into their film.
Question 4
In the beginning of the audio, it starts off with a woman speaking with a calm voice. Moments later, another narrator’s voice starts to overlap the woman’s voice. This really bugged me a lot because I don’t know who should I listen to. I find the woman’s voice sounds slightly clearer and so I focused more on her.
Later in the recording, the narrator swaps and it focuses on the man talking. I’m not sure if it’s the same person, but in that piece of the recording, there is a background ambience of inside a moving train I believe. It feels like they are creating a feeling for listeners to visualise where they are.
Question 5
The first recording was on people playing basketball in the court outside Building 9 and the only interuption in this recording will be the background music playing. In the recording, we can hear the ball bouncing on the ground a couple of times before throwing it into the basket. The second and third recording is similar just on a different perspective of angle. It was a recording of the road. In the first recording, we don’t hear much sounds coming but the second one does. The last one is a recording of birds chirping.
Listening to these recordings, I feel like the three or four recordings are a mixture of themes. A school, city, and nature. However, if we were to combine them, I picture a school which is located in a city. In a poetic perspective, I view it as the increase of human population in a city. Birds are usually seen a lot in rural areas (most of the time), and people and busy roads are most likely in the city.
