Week 10 – Instagram Video

“Locked Inside”

How did you author the video you recorded for upload to Instagram?

I authored this video on my iPhone Xs Max’s rear-facing camera on the inbuilt camera function on the Instagram application and it was taken without flash. The video was taken as one continuous shot, as I stood about to enter my front door and my dogs greeted me. I chose to take a video of my dogs on the other side of to the door to show one key purpose, I suppose, of doors which are to keep something, or someone, or some dogs, inside.

Just as I did last week, to edit this video I used the Instagram application and filters provided. I used the filter ‘Lark’ and turned it down to ’50′ strength in order to ensure the video would have a similar aesthetic to my other videos. I also muted this audio in the clip so that it aligned with my previous video.

Once again, I found the square format limiting when filming this video, as it meant I had to cut out quite a lot of my door.

How did you publish the video you recorded for upload to Instagram?

This was the only video which I recorded this week again, however, I did try multiple times last week but the dogs either didn’t come to the door when I got home, or someone opened the door before I could get the video I wanted.

For this video, I also added the location ‘Hampton, Victoria, Australia’ as that is where I live. The caption I chose was ‘Locked Inside’ as yes, obviously, the dogs are locked inside but also because their wagging tails make it appear as though being locked inside isn’t that bad after all.  I also chose to post some hashtags again, such as #dogs and #dogsofinstagram in a comment straight after posting my photo. By including these hashtags, along with the ones I used last week, I am opening my video up to an even wider and perhaps more active Instagram community of people who are interested in photos/videos of dogs.

How did you distribute the video you recorded for upload to Instagram?

As with the photo for this week, to distribute this video I shared it to my Twitter and Tumblr accounts. I noticed the process to share this video was even easier this week (see screenshot below), as there must have been an update in the application.

NOTE: Unfortunately, my two followers have unfollowed me since last week.
