The film I have chosen is “Black Sheep”(2019) by Ed Perkins. I like this film because it is an expository film, that protagonist of the story himself is slowing telling the audience a story of him trying to fit in the white community as a black child.

The whole film is based on an interview, Cornelius was having a talking head interview throughout the whole film, but the interesting part is that all the scenes are actually directed and shot to collaborate with what he says in the interview. The director has a group of actors acting out Cornelius’s story as layers and I think it is a very nice way of restoring the story since it is impossible to have original footage on this story. These scenes are what changed this interview into a film and I really enjoyed watching it.

This film is also very personal. The whole story was communicated by his own perspective, the way he sees the characters in the story and the emotion he feels after the violent things he did are all very personal. This kind of style can be related to my film because my film will also be very personal since the question is something I am very interested in and the reason why I chose to make such a film will be because of my own interest. Therefore I think I can learn the way he did his voiceover/interview. He said everything with emotion, so the audience can feel what he was feeling, I also wish my voiceover can draw enough attention from the audience so they can walk into my world.

Overall I really enjoyed watching this film and I also learned some knowledge about voiceover from it. The way it has acting scenes in it was really new to me so I would love to watch some other documentaries like this one.
