Today we had a discussion on the name of our film. It’s very hard to decide the name of a film because it is the first piece of information you give out to the audience. So it will lead them to think from a certain aspect, and for abstract films like ours, it will make them understand the film to a certain direction.
We thought about lust, dream, nightmare and lot of other words, but they all sounded wrong. At the end we still decide to named it Nightmare. Because in the film, she woke up from her dream three times, and she thought she killed her parents in her nightmare but it’s actually the reality. So naming it nightmare is quite appropriate since the film is highly related to the topic and it can also give audience a little hint of what the film is about because we edited it to be a lot more confusing than the last film.
However after the presentation in class James told us the name is not good enough and suggested us to change it. We asked him if it’s better to name it disturb, because that’s the name of the poem we were inspired by, and James said Disturb will be better. So we changed it to Disturb. Because in the story the daughter is disturbed by her other personality and that personality drove her to kill her parents. It fits the story and also is the name of the poem. So Disturb it is!
