For my movement video I have used photographs and videos to create a work based on the theme of “Movement of water”. For the photographs I experimented the different effects created by different shutter speeds when I am shooting photos of water. Fast shutter speed can freeze the movement of water to create a sharp and clear image; on the other hand slow shutter speed can show the flow of water and also use the reflection of light in the water to create light trails in the photo. The attractive part of this experiment is the uncertainty of the shapes of water. After the experiment I have found the suitable lighting and camera settings for the photos and took a few more. Then I used Photoshop to make some of them symmetrical to give them a more interesting look. I used the different shapes of water to create a more attractive pattern in the photos to show my audience how beautiful water can become. Because of the natural feature of water, the movement is unpredictable and unmaintainable which also makes every single photo very unique. It was fascinating to see how many possibilities there are during the post production process.

For the slow motion videos I used my phone to film them. The slow motion effect of iPhone is very decent but the overall quality of the video is a little disappointing since it’s from a phone camera. There is also room for improvement for the lighting. Next time I will set the lighting differently to have a better reflection of light in the water. But the slow motion perfectly caught the beautiful movement of water and I am happy with the result of this video.
