“In fact attention is highly selective, and for a good reason. We could not cope with all the impressions pressing on us at every moment. We need to be selective in order to survive. What get through into awareness (conscious or subconscious) is what we notice, at whatever level.”

This is a quote from John Mason. I think it is very relatable to this experiment of mine. To notice more different things is letting more things to get through into my own awareness and I have been expanding my awareness during the past month. I still remember myself looking at the list of things I need to notice and collecting each one of them when I was doing task 2. I highly relied on the list that I focused on the things on the list too much I ignored some other things in the location. Now I’m able to notice more things than I could and also I can notice things without telling myself that. I can notice without writing down a list first or setting alarms for myself, I think that is the most useful outcome from those three experiments I did.

Like I mentioned before, now I can notice things more naturally and also automatically finding many details on things around me. I think I can say this experiment is also successful and it is a piece of proof of the success of my first experiment. This task not only helped me to notice more things but also helped me to improve the diversity of my photographs. Overtime I found something worth recording that I ignored before I feel a sense of accomplishment because I added another decent photo to my photo album.

Those three experiments also gave me a rough idea of Task 4 project. I would like to keep exploring those ordinary things in people’s daily life, and I want to find the unique things about them. Keep turning normal things into an extraordinary photograph. I think I can take a series of photographs based on the theme of “Finding the beauty in your daily life”. Most people think daily life is boring, and the fun part only comes when the holiday comes. However there are still many beautiful things around you, whenever and wherever you are, if you slow down and take a good look at your surroundings you will probably find something that surprises you, and I want to discover those things.
