In the beginning of the video, Cal Newport mentioned an idea of “follow your passion” will get you to love what you do for living, but he denied this statement right after he mentioned it because it is wrong.

In my opinion, the idea is not entirely wrong, it works in some circumstances but it may also lead a teenager into a wrong path. It’s not always going to end well if you follow your passion blindly. However, if one’s passion is appropriate and capable of getting him a decent career, it will be wrong to tell him “Get a job first and develop a new passion for yourself.” It will be a waste of time to find another job he likes when there’s a great opportunity waiting for him already.  On the other hand if one’s passion is completely irrelevant to a career choice, he should definitely get his career going first before he follows any passion.

So, is it right to follow your passion? I’m sure everyone has their own answers, because some people get passionate at something before they are good at it and some people get passionate after they are skillful. Personally most of my passions started before I got good at them, which is the reason why I like to follow my passion and I believe they will lead me onto the right path.
