In this week’s reading, we read a comic about “closure”, it talked about how its used and the definition of it, and it got me thinking about its importance in media.

According to Scott McCloud, ‘Blood In The Gutter’ closure is “phenomenon of observing the parts but perceiving whole.” Closure is highly used in movies, comics and animations. In my opinion a closure is usually used to avoid a killing or bloody scene by replacing it with a scream or a sound of hurting someone. However it can also be used to foreshadow a later event. It can give audience some information by showing a face expression of the character. A closure can give audience so much to think about or assume. It can open up audience’s imagination. Their assumption can cause a lot of discussion on internet which will help the movie(or animations, TV series and comics) gain more attention.

Closure can not only attract more attention for a media but also make it more interesting for the audience that are watching it.
