Want some perspective?

I saw this clip today and was completely fascinated by it. It puts things into perspective and you realise how massive the universe and all its galaxies are. It is this endless space that is ongoing and if you think about it in relation to the world wide web and the endless possibilities- we have infinite amounts of knowledge at our fingertips. Truly amazing.

Understanding Google Panda

This isn’t an area of great interest to me and definitely not something I I know much about however I worked briefly in a content agency not too long ago and I heard this Google Panda being mentioned a lot. Google Panda is a quality filter that Google introduced to filter the content on websites. My understanding is key words still play a big part however websites just adding extra pages for no reason to fit more key words in doesn’t quite cut it anymore.

Tip: Panda looks for quality original and new content. Here is a great info graphic that explains it if you’re interested in understanding it a little more. A new algorithm, Panda 4.0 was released in May this year. Google is always looking for ways to improve their user experience.

Blogging for marks

The idea of keeping a blog instead of writing essays is a great way to be interactive and participate in the real world while at uni. Going off Adrian Miles’ idea that it keeps students from being passive consumers. It also allows us to break away from keeping a personal diary or journal that only we would ever read. I have never kept a blog and it’s definitely a major tool in the media industry so I’m up for it!
