So this week I couldn’t attend the symposium. Classic me.
Anyway I did make a point of reading through other people’s blogs and listening in class to get the general idea. In today’s tute there was a lot of discussion surrounding the q “is technology neutral?”.
All in all I think everyone was still a little confused and conflicted. Most people agreed that technology couldn’t be neutral. Couldn’t it? Yet there were still others who argued that technology itself can’t be active unless we decide to use it.
I’m still confused. Is it us or the technology? Who controls who?
The term technological determinism was also thrown around today (not unusual) except this time I actually knew what it meant (unusual).
In terms of the upcoming mixed media essay, I’m not loving the thought of it or the look of it or the sound of it.
