UntitledThis morning in my popular culture lecture we explored how popular culture is influenced by text, discourse and moral panics.  I thought that this lecture was fitting to link to my media courses as we dealt with how popular culture is reliant on the media.  Images, television, film, text – These forms of media all contribute to popular culture.  Basically without societies reaction to these mediums through transmitting (sharing, linking) and interacting with the media, popular culture would not exist.  The idea of moral panics through ‘video nasties’ of the 1970’s and 1980’s is a perfect example of how popular culture was influenced by mass interaction and fear mongering.  I’m looking forwards to exploring the links between all my courses this semester.
