This morning my group had our first ever project brief 4 meeting!

Okay, it was only two out of the three of us who showed up (maybe not a good start to the communication/team work process) but at this point I’m not concerned because it’s early days.  This project seems quite daunting to me.  I feel that there are so many constraints in terms of the editing but the written (or spoken as the case may be) section of the essay seems to be quite vague and seemingly a ‘free for all’ for us to interpret the concept of audience however we want.  This may be a good thing but I’ve always relied on structure so it may also be a bad thing for me.  I guess I will just have to ensure it is a good thing.

Today I took the minutes of the meeting.  We were basically just scraping the surface on the project and trying to decipher what it all meant.  We assigned some research tasks to each group member just so we could grasp the concept.  We will look at this altogether on Thursday, hopefully with a clearer vision of our project.  We started to have a look at what footage we wanted to include in our essays.  We decided that we didn’t want overlapping footage between our audio and video essays.  We want to look at different aspects of ‘audience’ so by overlapping the footage we think it will take away the originality of each idea.  Below are some ideas of footage we are hoping to include in our project:

Audio Essay:

  • Atmospheric sounds (found footage)
  • Voice over (created footage)
  • Radio (found footage)
  • Spot sounds of the computer and texting on phone etc (created footage)
  • Copyright free music (found footage)
  • Quoted footage (found footage)

Video Essay:

  • Voice over (created footage)
  • Old fashion footage (found footage)
  • Different types of audience (found footage)
  • Technology (created footage)
  • Old fashion count down on film reel (found footage)
  • Recorded video (created footage
  • Sound (found and created footage)
