In class this morning, we had a mini-film festival of all the works from our project brief’s (3).  It was nice to see that everyone was feeling quite similar in regards to nerves and having their work shown in front of the class.  There was definitely a range of skills and techniques visible in these interviews.  Some of us have really hit the nail on the head and some of us still have a way to go.

Georgia Imfeld– Hold the Line:

I think Georgia picked a really good subject to work with.  He is quite intriguing and obviously has a vast life experience.  He seems like such a character and there overall mood I got from the piece is basically– this characters motivation to do good.  I think the found footage really worked with this piece and she incorporated it quite well.  The introduction of the young man confused me slightly as I couldn’t decipher what his relevance in the project was.  I also felt like I wanted to see some dialogue synced with the footage of him actually talking or maybe some shots of him smiling because he sounds like an entertaining man.

Mia McCaskie– A Portrait of Anne S. Walker:

Another interesting subject!  I really love the interviews which involve the elderly.  They always have something interesting to offer.  I thought the film work was quite good in this piece and how the footage linked to what the subject was saying was very successful.  The found footage was incorporated well and it was nice to have some footage possibly from her era.  I think that there could have been some issues with the audio as it seemed to have a static sounding background noise.  Also, the start of the video repeats itself through the footage, audio and titles…possibly an unintentional editing mistake?

Unfortunately I couldn’t seem to find my other two group members’ projects.  I’m not sure if they weren’t uploaded onetime, correctly or whether their blogs are just slightly too difficult to navigate.  Aside from this, watching the interviews of other people was very interesting.  it was quite compelling to see each others’ skills and techniques and see how people are beginning to stylise their work.  I wish we had made more time in class to see everyone’s footage.  It would have been nice to have some feedback on my own work.
