Question 1: Lecture 7 Lighting: What was covered? Do you think the content is relevant to your project? And why?
Lighting is something very foreign to me, having no particular interest in it, I have never bothered to learn or experiment with such a vital element in film production. Lighting really does make or break the overall feel of the film. It sets the mood, tone, atmosphere and aesthetics of the film. Having dark lighting in a happy scene doesn’t really make sense, nor does it help the viewers understanding of the story.
“Without light, it is not possible to see anything, and it is not possible to shoot a film” was something Paul mentioned that is relatively obvious but something to keep in mind. Paul also spoke about exposure, and how adjusting the camera is just as important so the subjects you are filming are properly filmed
It was very helpful for our own shoot, as it was not until the day that I realized how natural light had such an impact and was often very hard to change, get rid of or minimize. It resulted in multiple members of the crew holding up bounce boards all around the room to prevent the light seeping in through the cracks in the windows.
