3) I feel as though my technical abilities may let me down in this subject in terms of my performance, therefore to prove my improvement over the course of the semester, I will begin noting down confusion or difficulties I may have with programs or complex terms, and by the end of the semester I will be able to see and prove how I have overcome them.
This week, in order for me to complete my sketch tasks, I had to upload my 10 second clips using any number of programs. Vimeo seemed pretty straightforward, plus was free, so I quickly signed up and managed to navigate myself around the site pretty easily.
A few notes for people using it for the first time:
– The actual uploading of videos takes a couple of minutes, however, ALLOW FOR UP TO 45 MINUTES FOR YOUR VIDEO TO BECOME AVAILABLE. I am not sure if this is because the video is being transposed, scanned or uploaded and checked on the database, but don’t think the process can be completed in a matter of moments.
If you don’t want to sit around waiting and watching the countdown timer, Vimeo will send you an e-mail telling you your video is now ready to view or play or “share with friends, family, computer-savvy pets, and total strangers”.
-Second thing I can teach people is, how to share your video/post it on a blog.
Super easy, but, yes me being me, I did have to look up how to do it, but now I am able to hopefully teach others how to do it!
1.Once your video is ready, select the ‘videos’ tab then the ‘my videos’ tab underneath. This will bring up a page with all your videos. Click on the video that you would like to share.
2. Once the video comes up on the screen, in the top right corner you will see a clock and a little paper airplane icon.
3. Click the paper airplane.
4. You are then given 4 options.
5. For the purpose of posting it in my blog, I need the actual video to appear. Linking the video will simply post the link to the video not make the video viewable on your blog.
The rest is simple.
6.Simply copy the text in the “Embedded” box and paste it in a blog post.
Et voila mes amies! You have just become super Vimeo savvy!
