Panel Feedback

Panel and Presentation Feedback

From our feedback from Mondays project three assessment Dom and I could see that we had lots to work on, particularly visually and in terms of our presentation. We went back to the drawing board and attempted to create a more engaging presentation to enable us to guide the panel successfully through our Korsakow film. Seth wrote down the following notes from watching our first presentation:

So on the panel we had three assessors of which I only knew one, Brian (my tutor from Media one last semester). The experience itself what quite daunting and both Dom and I didn’t really know what a ‘panel’ was coming into the class.

From discussion we have gathered that Dom and I will need to more strongly identify the three different types of clips we want to shoot (hi-fi, low-fi and go-pro) or totally scrap it – we will probably do the latter. The panel suggested that in Korsakow this may be unnecessary to distinguish each type of clip. This makes a lot of sense in reflecting as there is little it adds to the film, both visually and in terms of conveying meaning. The different types of clips will add texture to our k-film but do not need to be distinguished as they will be incorporated throughout.

We also need to clearly identify our two characters in order to create an opposition. Our film needs not be simply two profiles, but we need the audience to learn about our subjects the more they look into our work.

I think that in terms of creating something more poetic we can look at the relationship between Michael and Kier. We have been using it didactically up until now and we will look towards creating something deeper.

Largely from our feedback we have gathered that we need to ‘write it as we make it’. We need to get out and shoot and see where the film takes us thereby creating opportunities and destinations by which our k-film will take its audience.
