FINAL POST

FINAL POST

REFLECTION AND ONLINE PORTFOLIO SUBMISSION

Twelve weeks is not a lot of time. It feels like we just began and all of a sudden we have completed four project briefs. Writing my final reflection has forced me to took a look back over the last few month and really reminded me of the great deal of knowledge I have gained over this semester.

I have been able to continue developing my practise with the constant practical work widening my knowledge of relevant equipment and programs. This is really important for me as before my understanding was limited by the resources I had access to at home. Using Zoom h2n microphones and adobe premiere have not only increased my comprehension of creating content, but widen my physical abilities as a media practitioner. The practical approach I feel was very important in learning this. These are skills that needs to be adaptable with dynamic technology developed constantly. There are always new and better ways to do achieve the same end result. This assists me more primarily with efficiency and general performance.

All of the past media projects I have undertaken have involved independent work, so the idea of collaboration was definitely in some senses a new approach for me. I gained experience in sharing workloads and compensating ideas to create the best possible content. I have also met some really great people through this course and began the idea of networking. I found it quite challenging at first, but through the constant workshopping and added lectorial on the topic of collaboration I think I have improved greatly, mainly by understanding the benefits of group work. This is a really important skill to have as a media practitioner and it is one that I am sure will develop even further with workshops in the few years.

As for my own creative process… well I think what I discovered is that it still needs to develop. As I broaden my connection with people and technology my style as such is bound to change. And this is something that I have been able to accept more and try to challenge in many ways. I want to be diverse in my approach to creating content and not be tied down by a single process which defines my actions. Media One has given me the opportunity to find what works well and what I need to improve on in a creative sense.

I was quite uneasy and did not really know what to expect coming into university straight out of high school. However I think that the most important thing I have gained from this past semester is the confirmation that media industry is the right place for me to be.

The following are links to my five post for my online portfolio submission:
