A gumtree stands in behind a bonfire shaped pile of old wooden offcuts in the big backyard. The fence of the backyard is run down, grass dry.
EXT. Suburban Road.
An old station wagon pulls out of a driveway and heads down the empty street.
EXT. Backyard
Eddie is unpacking the empty drink cans she has collected on the patio. She fills each one with rocks before crushing them. She places them back in the bag.
INT. Can Depository/Metal Recycling Joint
Eddie cycles into the Depository. Without talking to the Man who runs the place she drops her bike and takes her bag to the scales to be weighed. He checks the weight. Eddie dismisses the claims that it’s
BRIAN
Hmm…What’d’ya got today?
EDDIE
Cans.
BRIAN
More cans…
Brian moves the scale to balance the weight of the cans. Eddie looks on with an eagle eye. He gives her a look that questions her truthfulness.
BRIAN
Seem pretty heavy.
EDDIE
They’re just cans.
Brian walks over back to his counter to give Eddie money for the cans. Eddie peers over the divider, watching money Brian is getting. He looks up at her before passing the money on.
BRIAN
Just over a dollar
EDDIE
