Media 3 Blog
At this point in time of the blog I am to analyse my ability to have adhered to my participation guidelines.
So far, I have been….sufficient. I was a rather lazy yesterday but used my break efficiently today to read the required reading of Rushkoff. noticing the deficiency in my behaviour, having only being sufficient, I have noticed what I have done wrong by myself. I believe this first week jitters or adjustment to my new schedule is just me clearing out the cobwebs and will be normalised soon.
The text by Rushkoff, which I wasn’t able to conquer in one go, was mentioning the deconstruction of Narrative and how technology, changing society and cultural context has effected us. It was ok, not profound as the tone of the author would have you think. It however does articulate a complex thought, especially focussing on the evolution of a future driven society.
I haven’t yet exposed myself to a documentary style or different styles of media. That should be the easiest of these to achieve considering the nature of the world wide web. I just have to commit to the process.
The Presence of preamble in this course is going to be a challenge to deal with in itself, to not get caught up in semantics will take all of my will power, but is also the design of the course so that is leading to confusion. Adrian mentions that he doesn’t want to go forward, thinking about the destination, yet a dichotomy exists where as students at university we understand that there is an end point (week 12/13) that we will reach, a curriculum we are a part of, that in itself is a journey. Is it even worth pretending that the journey is present without a destination, narrative or purpose but just because? Attack of the semantics.
