This week was all about brainstorming. As we didn’t have any contact with the fashion students yet we decided that we would go with a different idea. After watching several fashion films we decided that what we wanted to do was fashion profiles, and to start brainstorming and forming an idea to pitch to the class next week. We discussed all kinds of ideas such as having a group of models dressed over the top walking down the street as a contrast to the everyday wear the public would have on.  As well as colour contrasts, for example putting a model in an all pink outfit and filming them with a green background. The idea our group ended up deciding on was to create fashion profiles. We want to focus on particular people’s fashion and showcase their individuality. We would want to keep it experimental like in our first film but instead of using just one model, use four and intercut the different profiles. So we would film each person individually and then have a group shot all together as to show that even though they each have their individual style, there is still a form of connectedness between them. We are still deciding on specific details like if we want to use male and female models or just female. We are going to concentrate on finding inspirational videos that can help us with our pitch and forming a stronger focus for our final film.

Even though originally I had my heart set on working with fashion students as I thought it would be a great opportunity to collaborate and learn more broadly about fashion and design, I am happy with where this new idea is taking us. I think it will be engaging to work with different people and discover more about personal style and what makes people choose the clothes they wear. I think it will be quite challenging to organise as we will be working with many people and everyone has different schedules. Even though it may be difficult, I think it’s good to practice these organisational skills now as you will always be working with people and conflicting schedules when making films.
