Since my group and I couldn’t get time to film anything the week before at Lollie Lovers, we did most of our filming this Thursday and conducted our interview on Friday. On Thursday, because there was six of us in our group, we split up in three to film in different places. We started gathering some footages using two cameras that captured footages around Queen Victoria Market and also ‘Lollie Lovers’ shop.
I was a part of the three that were filming around ‘Lollie Lovers’ shop. Terri wasn’t working that day, but there was her co-worker, Marissa, whom we already met before. She let us film inside and around the shop during the working hours. Although it was a busy day for the shop, we eventually got some footages of some customers, children, etc. which was something we intended to do in the first place. Additionally, we also played with some camera techniques as well, such as, panning, tilting, using exposure, focus, etc. to fulfill a good establishing shots. Thus, that day resulted in a pretty productive day, where we were able to gather most footages other than Terri’s interview out of the way.
On Friday, we did the interview. Again since there were six of us in our group, Rohan advised us to split up to do the interview. So, there were only the three of us who did the interview and it was: Ceyda, Jenny and Meita. That day, the three of them did the interview early in the morning 30 minutes before the shop opens and probably more time to take more shots of the shop and Terri working. Moreover, while they were conducting the interview, I was in the editing suite, figuring out to use premiere as our editing software for this project, as well as, trying to create an introduction to the short-documentary. I have never used Adobe Premiere before as I use Macbook, which means I am mostly used to using Final Cut Pro for editing any kind of videos. So, I had to learn new techniques and skills to be able to edit using this software. Nevertheless, I was able to learn basic knowledge using Adobe Premiere and put together the interview footages and establishing shots, as well as, splitting the interview footages to edit further next week.
