Blog #4: My Audio Expertise Exercise

One of the things that our studio was exploring this week was several expertise experiments, such as, audio and video. These exercises have an intention to get inspired towards what we’re going to do throughout the semester. The first thing we got our hands on was the audio expertise exercise.

We were paired and was given an activity to go out ‘on the field’, as well as, record something that inspires us while we’re out there. To me, because it was an audio recording exercise, it made the exercise interesting because it had me thinking what specific audio recording that would be engaging or fascinating that could also potentially be used for my future project. This is what I came up with:

This is a simple audio recording of footsteps. Although, it was a simple and not at all ‘interesting’ as it may seem, I was able to obtain a sound that doesn’t incorporate too much faultiness. Furthermore, I was also able to learn how to use the equipment, which was the ‘Zoom Recorder’ that I have never used before. Since, audio is something I was never really comfortable doing, using this specific zoom helped introduced me to utilizing new sound production equipment and thus, broaden my knowledge towards this area of technicality further.
