This week my group and I have been experiencing a lot of struggles. Firstly, we encountered most of our main interview footages being visually disrupted, as the lighting wasn’t very appealing and changes at some parts of the interview. The reason for the footages not being at a great quality is that there was a problem during the filming of the interview that we did not realize. The problem was caused by the focus setting of our camera at that time. We must’ve unintentionally or forgotten somehow to double-check on the monitor or screen on our camera before the camera started rolling that resulted in our focus setting not being set properly or as intended.
Then, the audio was very disturbing because there were some very noisy background voices happening at the market outside. This could be because at that time during the filming of the main interview the weather wasn’t very supportive at all as it was raining, which resulted in a lot of background noises outside the shop. Although we’ve used both shotgun microphone that was directed towards the participant and lapel mic, which was on the participant, it still didn’t come out as great as we wanted to.
All of these difficulties brought out a decision for us to re-film some of our footages. Nevertheless, we tried our best to work with what we have and tried to cover up the little mistakes we found distracting and incorrect. Thus, even though we encountered a couple difficulties that sort of brought our energy down, we were able to put together some footages together at a very short amount of time and we made sure that we learn this lesson, so that if we were to make a short documentary one day, we could make sure to not repeat these mistakes again.
