Blog #9: Process part. 2

As far as my research, I have done a lot of thinking and planning over the past few days. I’ve wanted to go out on the field one more time since I didn’t quite obtain what I initially visualised for my first experiment on Week 4. My planning started from scouting for new locations I could easily shoot in for the next experiment before Week 7 – the presentation.

I went around RMIT campus and started visualising what it would be like to shoot in each location. There are several locations I felt like was interesting, these locations include, the University courtyard – but it was too packed as there were many students going in and out, passing by the courtyard that may not be very convenient to film, especially when there’s a certain event happening, behind building 13 – I didn’t particularly know what that location was called but this location was the setting that was used for my first group expertise exercise on Week 3 and 4 and around the city and suburban area near it such as lincoln park, argyle square, etc.

Since this was just an experiment I’d like to conduct to prepare for Week 7, so that I that I know exactly what I was looking for in the Project Brief #4, I’ve decided to just utilise the location I used before which was, behind building 13. I find that location convenient and quieter than the other locations I scouted on. Therefore, I planned on doing my second experiment right there. Here are my notes:

Character/Actor:

Grace P.

Action:

Reading A book – inspired by Bradley Cooper’s scene in Silver Linings Playbook

Camera:

Wide shot/ Still shot – Right, Left, Back and Front

Mid shot/Still shot – Right, Left, Back and Front

High Angle – Front (looking down on character and her action)

Low Angle – Front

*maybe close ups??

Equipment:

DSLR camera

Although this was a rough idea of what I initially visualised with this particular location, I hoped to do more during the actual meeting with my friend and character, Grace.
