This weekend was the first weekend in a very long time which I ventured out into the wild urban landscape which is Melbourne to attend a gig, which is a very contrasting statement to say coming from an avid supporter of my local music scene in Mildura Victoria.
This weekend both Saturday and Sunday I ventured out to She Cries Wolf’s (brisbane) two AA shows, one at Wrangler the other at Musicland.
And I what I faced was a reigniting of passion to which has fallen dormant among the process of moving here and finding my feet.
I forgot the love for live music, which is something which I never thought I would forget, however I know no one in melbourne whom shares similar musical tastes, nothing can honestly compare to the momentary lapsing into the sound form (which is a media text in itself) causing a unity between friends and strangers alike.
People who hear this music, or see this music often gain misconceptions about it, however when looking at it from a level perspective one sees that its main factor which makes it an art is the fact it creates and forms unity.
For me for example, I am timid, and I am shy, too shy to talk to some random person who is sitting next to me, but once Fixtures plays by She Cries Wolf, or Baal, Or Firstborn what have you, I have no issue punching someone in the head, screaming into someones face, and am not mortified if the floor turns out to be extremely slippery and I eat dirt in the middle of the pit.

I think music is a particularly interesting media text upon re evaluation, due to its overwhelming effect on audiences, and the opportunities which manifest within it.
