Lecture 6

In this lecture we discussed navigating through the library to find information and research. This will be particulary helpful in upcoming research assingments. As I went to La Trobe last year I attended several essay writing/research assingment workshops which really did help. Now I just have to get aquired to the RMIT search system and should be pretty easy to navigate.

The second half of the lecture talked about the possiblities of collobration, due to the upcoming group project in Media 1. We discussed many of the pros and cons of working in groups, which Rachel confirmed is a crucial part in working in the industry.

Pros:

MoreĀ ideas
Get inspiration from other people
Have support
More responsibility to perform
Finish projects faster
Work on bigger projects
Share workload

Cons:
Group members don’t put in effort
People let you down
Don’t always feel comfortable working with people you don’t know
Can’t reach a compromise

I have had both positive and negative experiences from working with groups, but what I think it all boils down to is having good communication and making sure everyone is able to speak and have their say in the project. (Although this can sometimes be a problem when members decide they don’t want to speak).
