Collaboration

Collaborating is inevitable to come across when working in the media industry although it is not something that can always work out well (in my opinion). The collaborating I will be discussing however, produced a great piece of collaborative work.

Gabe and I were assigned the role of producing a title sequence for the exhibition screening. We have produced a title sequence of sorts together before, which worked out quite well so I knew we would be able to work cohesively together to produce another one. As I have been exploring text on screen as part of my research question I was happy to create similar shots for the title sequence which I could conveniently film when I film my other titles. We decided to then film students names on lettered cubes and then in post-production split the screen into 4, as to fit all the student’s names in the least amount of time. Gabe was in charge of supplying music as he creates and produces his own work so would be able to add that to the finished sequence to bring it all together. Gabe found a funky little tune that he had tucked away in his computer which worked quite well with the titles. The music complimented the titles really well. Collaboration although sometime tricky, can allow for better work due to the combination of different ideas and creative abilities.
