Project brief 4 Reflection

After a lengthy 7 weeks working on project brief 4 I’m glad to see the project has finally come together. I’m not particularly a fan of working in groups to begin with and I did find the idea of working with people I didn’t know a bit daunting, however I can now say that it was overall a really good experience. The initial idea of project brief 4 did confuse me in the beginning and the idea of conveying a creative ‘intervention’ project that discussed audiences did seem rathe difficult. I was quite happy with the topic of audiences, however, as I knew there was so much to be explored in that topic. I believe all of my group members were able to plan, create and edit this project quite efficiently and although there may be both positives and negatives to overall project, I believe we can only learn from the negatives.

We decided to create a choose-your-own adventure interactive video on youtube which took a look at how media influenced people in everyday lives, exploring the sometimes subconscious decisions audiences make in relation to media interaction. I believe the process that took the most time was ultimately planning and trying to convey all our ideas into this idea of create-your-own adventure. Receiving feedback from class although was helpful, sometimes did make us question what were the best strategies in executing the video. I believe we also could have made a few extra days available for filming but the difficulties we found were conflicting schedules due to work commitments, uni classes, projects etc. Editing was my major role and I can say it wasn’t as difficult as I thought it would be as the clips were all filmed in chronological order and had great continuity, which I think is a major positive in our video.
