Today in class we presented our project 3 videos; portraits which incorporated both found and original footage. Many of the works were set in documentary style which differed from mine in aspects. Feedback I received was that people generally like the music-video style I had but some of the footage was quite shaky, which I suppose I did get lazy in trying to readjust the tripod for every single shot it took.
A work I really enjoyed was Siobhan’s, who wasn’t able to show in class but I did manage to get a look at. Unlike many other she included stock photo footage rather than videos, which really had a different effect on her video. I also really enjoyed the close up shots of the environment such as the flashing strobe lights. I enjoyed her video as hers was centred around a dancer, as a previous dancer I could truly enjoy the beauty of her video. A limitation to her work could be that she could have incorporated more environmental sounds and experiment with stock sounds as well.
The end of the class included being put into our project 4 groups which we will be working on over the next seven weeks.
