Lectorial 3

The third lectorial was made up of 3 separate presentations. The first was by Anne Lennox who gave a presentation on copyright laws in relation to sound recordings, cinematographic and tv. This was quite good to get a basic understand of copyright laws and expectations, although it can be seen that in almost every situtation is unique in correctly obtaining copyright clearance. I personally dealt with trying to obtain copyright clearance in 2013, when I tried to get right to a song in my short media film in order go enter it into Top Acts which screens at ACMI. It was a very lengthy process and after reaching half of the copyright holders it wasn’t worth it due to time and money complications.

The second speaker was Kyla Brettle, a freelance audio producer and documentary film maker who spoke about her travels working in the field. We were able to listen to samples of her work such as audio from inside and ambulance which were really quite mesmerising. She gave some useful tips on working in the field, saying to just ‘put yourself out there’.

After that, Paul gave a talk about filming and film works including discussing incidents of serendipity.
