Editing Practice

In the week 3 workshop we were given a task to edit 7 shots of video using a particular theme; movement.  The only editing software I have personally used is Sony Vegas Pro which I used on my old Windows laptop. I really enjoyed using Sony Vegas Pro and I was hoping that switching to another editing program on Mac wouldn’t be too difficult. I decided to install Final Cut Pro onto my computer vs iMovie as I have heard generally better things about Final Cut Pro, and since it is a paid program like Sony Vegas Pro I was hoping it would be high quality program.

At first the new style format of Final Cut Pro made me a bit nervous, but just googling ‘how to’ questions about its features made it easy to get the hang of. I experimented with change of speed, transitions and titles. I chose a clip of a timelapse of clouds, which I then sped up and repeated twice. I also chose 2 clips of a cat, one walking along and the other was  a close up of its face. I also inserted a clip of a beach, sped up. I think the fast edit of the clips works really well with the upbeat music of ‘Elephant’ by Tame Impala.
